1st Mariner Bank

Energy Efficient Technologies performed energy audits, LED lighting upgrades, HVAC optimization and tune up programs and deployed the family of CryoGenX4 products in all branches throughout Baltimore Maryland.   Work was performed and partially paid by Baltimore Gas & Electric Utility Rebate programs.

Overview:

First Mariner Bank was interested in saving money on energy and improving the efficiency of the HVAC systems at its 80,000 square foot headquarters in downtown Baltimore. The building spends approximately $3.06 per square foot annually on energy, which is well above the national average of $1.80 per square foot for office buildings.

Solutions:

Lighting

We upgraded over 1,000 fixtures in the building and installed 400 occupancy sensors/controls. After securing a $70,000 rebate, the lighting project generated a 2.0 year payback.

HVAC

During our audit of the building, we recorded room temperatures in various parts of the building along with air conditioning supply and return temperatures. These numbers verified that there are several issues in this building caused by HVAC issues. We recommended installing our patented TakeAIM® analytical tool into the twelve rooftop HVAC units at the building to identify how to make these machines more efficient and keep them that way. After collecting data on each HVAC system, we were able to determine how often they were operating, as illustrated in the graph below

By automating the set points during the day, turning the units off at night, performing maintenance on the units, and installing technology to restore their efficiency, First Mariner will save at least $27,168 annually, generating a payback just under 1.8 years.

Other

We also installed 100 plug load control devices and several vending and snack miser devices that will save First Mariner an additional $3,000 at a 2.8 year payback.
