Global Logistics & Cold Chain Food Distributor Salt Lake City, Utah

Helping Cold Chain Distribution Centers

A Global logistics and food distributor was interested in reducing carbon footprint and reducing costs.

The goal of this project was to reduce carbon footprint and help the different equipment in each location run better while increasing the efficiency and company profits.

CryoGenX4 was deployed in all Ammonia Chiller machines in this 400,000 square foot cold chain facility.   CryoGenX4 reduces the cost to operate equipment, regardless of age.

The Results are In- >1907% Return on Investment

On 18 May 2021, Energy Efficient Technologies (EET) began conducting a performance pilot on the 7-year-old Ammonia refrigeration system supporting the Cold Chain Distribution Center (DC) located near the Salt Lake City airport in Utah.

The primary purpose of the pilot project was to demonstrate the financial savings, increased efficiency, and carbon footprint reductions achieved by implementing the energy control measure (ECM) CryoGenX4.

  • 15% energy reductions
  • 7.9% increase in capacity
  • 17.2% increase in Coefficient of Performance
  • 1907% Return on Investment

  • Comparison Method 3: Oil Returned from the Refrigeration Loop
According to DHL and the service provider, oil levels are monitored regularly for clarity, quality and amount. If anything appears out of the norm, it is immediately addressed.
One of the many ways in which CryoGenX4 improves performance is by removing any efficiency-robbing stagnant oil throughout the heat exchangers of an HVAC or refrigeration system. For example, in the photos below, which were verified by the DHL facility manager, the oil level rose from 50% of the top site glass to 70% over the testing period. An oil level increase like this has never been seen before in this particular compressor so it can be concluded that it is directly attributable to introduction of CryoGenX4.
